How to Create a "Sea Turtle".

Hello everyone!! Here is our first attempt to show you how to create a "Sea Turtle". The idea to create this miniature was taken from the animated film "Sammy the turtle". Below I mention the steps you should take in order to create the turtle from desing to the final result. I hope you'll find it interesting! Have fun. :)

"Fisrt Step"

We make a sketch of the outline of what we want to do.

We cut the cartboard and we design in a copper sheet (thin).
We create two front legs, two back legs and the carapace (or main body).

Then with one minute glue we assemble the parts and we give them the shape we want. From the remains of the copper sheet we created one part that it looks like head.

In order to begin, give form to what we want to do, use a two part epoxy putty...

... We get two pieces, a piece from the one putty and a piece from the other ( in analogy 1:1 ) and mix them for 5 minutes in order to become a homogeneous material-mass. We have 4 hour ( before harden ) so we can process it and give it the shape we want ( we will make reference to another post about what materials we use and what properties each have ).

This is the first coating step with the putty (up and down) and we leave uncovered some places so as we can work more easily after drying the first step. If our putty has dried becomes like stone ), we can draw, rub, paint, cut etc.

The next step is to desing the carapace of Sea Turtle. We get a simple paper sheet and sketch the carapace like we do at the foto.

Then, with a pencil, we sketch, simple lines on the carapace of our miniature. Look to the next foto which shows the lines and in which we have already added pieces  from epoxy putty which looks like a carapace.

In order to create the fins leg we used a tool like nail tip.
We do not carve very deep, as deep as lines will appear.

At the next 2 photos you can see the completed fins and carapace.

Next step is to create the head.
We sketch the head on a paper sheet.

And we start working on this project

The next step is bit difficult. We must create the eyes. We make 2 equal pieces (little balls) and put them in the eye sockets.

To create the eyes and the eyebrows, we used the shaping tools size "0" ( Look at the next foto ).

In order to use, propperly, these tools you must have near you, water or babyoil in order to keep these tools, wet.
(This a tip of how someone can use these tools when he use epoxy putty).

And we are ready :))

Our Sea Turtle is ready. It only remains to paint it. But before that, let's go to create the base.

The material we use to build this base is FIMO clay-putty, which can be easily edited and we can give to it any shape we want. It dries up in 24 hours because it has enough water. We must be careful, however, while it dries, in case the original volume becomes smaller (because the water is being lost).
